Set design by Tom Gleeson | “BREAKING OUT OF SUNSET PLACE took our audiences on a light-hearted, comical and zany tour as the three ladies of Sunset Place made their escape, a route that was paved night after night with the audience’s laughter. Our audiences most enjoyed the true-to-life subject matter – aging and the dependency that aging enforces and the resulting “revolt.” Identifying with the ladies of Sunset Place seemed to take hold of both young and old audience members. In the true transforming process of theatre – as accomplished in this work – they cheered for the ladies as much as for themselves. The show received incredibly positive word of mouth, with many sales to those who had heard about the show. The play was a tremendous box office success! I strongly endorse Patricia Barry Rumble’s work.” Semina De Laurentis, Artistic Director, Seven Angels Theatre |
| “This play gives voice to the elderly in a light-hearted and touching way. Its message, full of friendship and promise, is certainly memorable. Most important, this poignant comedy is solid entertainment. It’s a fun outing and you’ll find yourself laughing and cheering for the ‘silver foxes’!” Joanne Greco Rochman from her 11/18/01 review, Sunday Republican |
