About Playitstore Publishing Co.

It is said that making children laugh for just a few minutes at a time takes a special talent. Writing for children, especially little children, can be quite the challenge … keeping and holding their attention for an hour and getting them to laugh, a huge accomplishment! Writing comedy for anyone (big or little) actually takes a special gift!
As a child, I loved cartoons. I loved the characters, Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Tweety Bird, Sylvester the Cat, Daffy Duck, Pepe le Pew, etc. I loved the way the characters talked. I would spend hours, mimicking the characters I saw in the cartoons, for my own amusement and sometimes for others. The comedy in these cartoons always made me laugh.
From the beginning I have always had a fascination with language … the sound of words … the sound of a different accent. In high school and college, I took French, Spanish, Latin and in college, added German. In college, I majored in biology and German. I have taught school in many places (Houston, New Orleans, and Pojoaque, New Mexico on Native American land.) I have taught many subjects, particularly science, math and German. And even once, a French class. My first writing experience (although I didn't know that it was writing at the time) was to write a comedy sketch for my German students, which they performed and won a first place in competition in Lafayette, Louisiana.
As for writing plays, I had to learn that on my own. Self taught, yes, that's true. But when a New York editor of children's books told me I had a gift for dialogue and also a gift for comedy, her comment helped change my life and took me on a path to the theatre.
My plays have been performed all over the country. Now in publishing my own plays, I can say that I get to combine my love of language, comedy, history, science and drama on stage and throw in a dash of my own business sense as well.
Now one of the most exciting things for me is to offer Aesop's Funny Fables, in many languages. We are starting off with English, of course. German, Italian and Spanish versions are also available … with French coming soon. Aesop's Funny Fables is being translated by native speakers, each with a great sense of humor. And we hope to add more languages. This play is funny in any language.
So twenty years after writing my first play, I am now beginning to publish my plays online. Playitstore Publishing is a new venture. We feel that the Internet offers a new way of publishing: easy for you, the potential producer … and easy for me, as a writer, to "get the word out" and still have time to write and have a life.
We will be providing a few pages of sample dialogue, so you can see if this is the play you want to order. The beauty of the "downloadable" play, you will be able to make multiple copies for your production. Yes, this is a business and royalty fees must be paid to produce the work, however. We are a "for profit" enterprise.
Thank you … and we look forward to your productions!
Most sincerely yours,
"Trish" Patricia Barry Rumble,
Playwright, Publisher, etc.
